Behind every family we serve at Springs Food Pantry is a story. A story of hard work, family, resilience, and the challenges of making ends meet in one of the most expensive communities in the country.

Through our growing collection of recipient testimonial videos, we're sharing the voices of the people who rely on the Pantry, helping our community better understand food insecurity on the East End and the difference your support makes.

We're especially grateful to Araceli, Pilar and Elizabeth, three of our Pantry recipients who recently shared their personal stories with us.

Meet Araceli: Making Ends Meet in the Hamptons

Araceli Jimenez
Araceli Jimenez

Araceli moved to the East End about eight or nine years ago to be with her husband. She loves living here, but like so many working families, she knows that life in the Hamptons comes with enormous financial challenges.

Rent, groceries and other necessities are expensive, and for people whose jobs depend on the busy summer season, the winter months can be particularly difficult.

"You work here only in the summer because in the winter there is not a lot of work. That's why this helps a lot." — Araceli Jimenez

Watch Araceli's story to hear how the Pantry helps families navigate the high cost of living and seasonal employment.

Meet Pilar: More Than Food, a Feeling of Belonging

Pilar works as a kitchen assistant for the Town of East Hampton. She estimates that the groceries she receives from Springs Food Pantry each Wednesday save her approximately $150 to $200, money that can go toward other household necessities.

But for Pilar, the Pantry offers something beyond financial relief.

"I feel at home here. Everyone is so kind. I feel loved and very appreciated." — Pilar Zuna (translated from Spanish)

Watch Pilar's story to hear how the Pantry provides not only healthy food, but also a welcoming community where everyone is treated with dignity and care.

Meet Elizabeth: A Blessing for Her Family

Elizabeth is a mother of three who knows firsthand how difficult it can be to raise a family in the Hamptons, where even hardworking families can struggle to keep up with everyday expenses.

"Maybe people think, 'Oh, they live in the Hamptons, they must have money.' No. We work really hard so we can live here." — Elizabeth Abreu Lara (translated from Spanish)

Elizabeth speaks about the importance of fresh, healthy food for her family, her gratitude to local farmers, and the kindness she experiences at the Pantry. She also has a heartfelt message for anyone considering making a donation.

"It's a blessing, and I truly hope we can continue with that support. Because here, everything is shared with love, and that's really beautiful." — Elizabeth Abreu Lara (translated from Spanish)

Watch Elizabeth's story and hear her personal appeal to help Springs families.

Every Story Matters

Araceli, Pilar and Elizabeth are just three of the nearly 400 families who turn to Springs Food Pantry each week for healthy, supplemental food.

Their experiences are different, but their stories share a common message: food insecurity isn't always visible, and even hardworking families need a little extra help sometimes.

We invite you to explore all of our recipient testimonial stories to meet more of the people behind the numbers, hear about their challenges, and understand what Springs Food Pantry means to them.

These stories also remind us why donations matter. As a 100% volunteer-led organization, we depend on community support to purchase nutritious foods, including meat, fish, eggs, dairy, fruits and vegetables, that aren't always available from our local farm partners and Food Banks.

To everyone who has shared their story, thank you for helping our community understand the importance of the Pantry. And to everyone who supports us, thank you for making these stories of hope and gratitude possible.
